DISCERNMENT AND FORMATION PROCESS
Your vocation is an answer to God’s call. Therefore, it is most important to remain united with Him in prayer. This is the source of your discernment and, ultimately, the confirmation of your vocation.
If you are interested in discerning with the Apostles of the Interior Life, contact our vocation director at vocations@apostlesofil.com and she will lead you in the process.
DISCERNMENT OF ONE’S VOCATION
The young woman in discernment has two goals:
- To be more confident about her vocation to consecrated life.
- To specifically discern the call to our charism.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Once the young woman and the vocation director are confident in their discernment, the application process begins. It is in itself an opportunity to further discern.
EXPERIENCE IN THE COMMUNITY
The positive conclusion of the application process opens the door to the experience in the community: the young woman will live for two or three semesters with the community, in one of the apostolic houses, usually in the United States. She is required to live community life. At this time, she will begin learning how to speak Italian and become familiar with the four pillars of the charism. During the time of experience both the young woman and the community will continue the discernment to become an AVI.

FORMATION IN ROME
After a successful experience with the community, the next step is to live in the house of formation in Rome. This period of discernment focuses on being “shaped into an Apostle of the Interior Life”. The young woman studies Philosophy and Theology in a Pontifical University.
PROFESSION OF VOWS
During the 5th year of formation (or later if necessary) the young woman will profess the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience according to the Constitutions of the Apostles of the Interior Life.
